XROS 5
The Vaporesso XROS 5 is a refillable pod kit built for everyday vapers who want adjustable power, fast charging, and proper flavour from a pocket-friendly aluminium device.
Set up guide & tips
What's in the box
The XROS 5 ships with the device, two pods (0.6Ω and 0.8Ω), a USB-C charging cable, and a user manual. Charge the device fully before your first use.
Filling the pod
Vaporesso uses a snap-off mouthpiece design that makes filling quick:
- Pull the mouthpiece firmly upward until it snaps free from the pod.
- Locate the filling port and squeeze your e-liquid bottle nozzle directly into it.
- Fill until the level shows clearly through the side window, avoiding the central airflow tube.
- Press the mouthpiece firmly back down until it clicks into place.
- If this is a brand-new pod, wait 5 minutes before vaping to allow the coil to prime fully. Skipping this step with a dry coil will burn the cotton immediately.
Choosing the right e-liquid
The resistance of the pod you use should guide your liquid choice:
0.6Ω and 0.8Ω pods (included): These are MTL-oriented coils suited to 50/50 (PG/VG) e-liquids. Nic salts at 10mg or 20mg work very well here, delivering a smooth, tight draw with strong flavour. Freebase at 3mg to 12mg is equally at home. Avoid high-VG shortfills in these pods as the thick liquid restricts wicking and shortens coil life noticeably.
UK TPD note: The XROS 5 sold in the UK holds 2ml of e-liquid in line with TPD regulations. The 3ml version is for non-TPD markets. Nicotine e-liquid sold in the UK is capped at 20mg/ml in 10ml bottles under the same rules.
Button controls at a glance
- 5 clicks: power on or off
- 1 click: activate screen
- 2 clicks: cycle through display themes
- 3 clicks: adjust power mode (Eco, Normal, Power) or fine-tune wattage with a 0.4Ω pod
- 4 clicks: settings menu (screen lock, animation toggle, puff counter reset, button disable for auto-draw only)
The auto-draw function works alongside the button by default. If you prefer a pure draw-activated vape, disable the button in the settings menu.
Charging
The XROS 5 charges via USB-C at up to 3A, which is faster than most pod kits in this category. The 1500mAh battery supports pass-through vaping, meaning you can vape while it charges if needed.

- Burnt taste or dry hits Every puff tastes harsh, burnt or acrid, or the vapour feels dry and scratchy rather than smooth. This usually means the coil is not getting enough e-liquid before or during firing.
- Device not working or not firing You press the fire button and nothing happens, or the device powers on but refuses to produce any vapour. This covers a completely unresponsive device as well as one that appears on but will not fire.
- Not charging, stops charging, or charging animation explained The device is not charging when plugged in, the charging animation is not showing on screen, or the device stops charging before the battery is full.
- Screen shows "BATTERY LOW" and stops working The screen displays a BATTERY LOW message and the device cuts out, refusing to fire. This is the built-in low-voltage protection activating because the battery has discharged too far to operate safely.
- Screen shows "CHECK ATOMIZER" and device stops working The screen displays "CHECK ATOMIZER" and the device stops firing. This fault indicates the kit cannot detect a valid coil or pod connection.
- Screen shows "OVER HEAT" and stops working The screen displays "OVER HEAT" and the device stops firing. This is a built-in thermal protection cutting in because the device has detected a high internal temperature.
- Screen shows "OVER TIME" and stops working The screen displays "OVER TIME" and the device stops firing mid-draw or mid-button press. This is a built-in safety cut-off, not a fault.
- Screen shows "SHORT ATOMIZER" and stops working The screen displays "SHORT ATOMIZER" and the device stops firing. This is a built-in protection response to a detected short-circuit or abnormally low resistance at the pod connection.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the XROS 5 and the XROS 4?
The XROS 5 adds a larger 1500mAh battery, a 3A fast-charge USB-C port, and an updated 0.88-inch HD screen with multiple display themes compared to the XROS 4. Pod compatibility across the XROS COREX range remains the same, so your existing pods carry over without issue.
How does the XROS 5 compare to the XROS Pro?
The XROS 5 focuses on a refined screen interface, faster charging, and broader pod compatibility. The XROS Pro typically targets a slightly more compact form factor. Both cover MTL to restricted DTL vaping via the same XROS pod ecosystem, so the choice often comes down to screen preferences and battery size.
What pods are compatible with the Vaporesso XROS 5?
The XROS 5 is compatible with the full XROS COREX pod range, including 0.4Ω, 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω, 1Ω, and 1.2Ω options. Pods from older XROS generations also interchange, so you are not locked into buying new stock when you upgrade from an earlier model.
How do I follow the Vaporesso XROS 5 instructions for first use?
Charge the device, snap off the pod mouthpiece, fill through the port, click the mouthpiece back into place, and wait 5 minutes for the coil to prime before vaping. Press the fire button 5 times to power on, then use 3 clicks to select your preferred power mode.
Is there an XROS 5 Mini or XROS 5 Nano?
Yes, Vaporesso produce both the XROS 5 Mini and the XROS 5 Nano as smaller variants in the same generation. They share the core technology but differ in battery capacity and dimensions. If portability is the priority over battery life, either makes a reasonable alternative to the standard XROS 5.
Why can I only adjust wattage with the 0.4Ω pod?
Vaporesso locks the 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω, 1Ω, and 1.2Ω pods to three preset modes rather than step-by-step wattage control. Only the 0.4Ω pod unlocks the full 15W to 30W adjustable range. The presets on the included pods still give a meaningful difference in vapour and flavour, but granular control requires buying the 0.4Ω pod separately.
