Luxe XR Max 2

An 80W pod kit built for MTL through to DTL vaping, with a 3200mAh battery and the AXON chipset making it one of the most versatile refillable pod mods around.

Set up guide & tips

Filling the Pod

The Luxe XR Max 2 uses a top-fill design, so there is no need to remove the pod from the device to refill. Lift the fill port cover on top of the pod, add your e-liquid until the pod reaches 2ml capacity, and close the cover firmly before vaping. Avoid overfilling, as this can cause leaking around the seal.

Priming Your Coils

Both the DTL and MTL pods come with GTX coils pre-installed, but you should prime them before the very first use. Add a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed cotton wick at the base of the coil, fit the coil into the pod, fill the pod, then leave the whole assembly to stand for five to ten minutes. This saturates the wick fully and prevents a dry, burnt hit on those first few puffs. See the coil priming guide linked on the product page for a full walkthrough.

Choosing the Right E-Liquid

The correct e-liquid depends entirely on which pod and coil you are using.

DTL pod with the 0.2ohm GTX Dual Mesh coil: Use a high-VG e-liquid, typically a 70/30 VG/PG ratio or higher. Shortfill e-liquids with a nicotine shot added work well here. Stick to freebase nicotine at a lower strength, 3mg or 6mg, as the open airflow and high wattage produce a lot of vapour and higher strengths become harsh very quickly.

MTL pod with the 0.8ohm GTX Mesh coil: Use a 50/50 freebase or nicotine salt e-liquid. Nic salts at 10mg or 20mg are the natural pairing here, delivering a smooth throat hit on a tighter draw. This is the setup to reach for if you have recently switched from cigarettes and want a closer feel to smoking.

Luxe X Dual Mesh pods (sold separately): These integrated-coil pods work on the same device and broaden your coil options further. Check the resistance of the specific Luxe X pod before choosing your e-liquid, following the same high-VG for sub-ohm and 50/50 or nic salt for higher-resistance guidance above.

Wattage and Modes

The AXON chipset offers Smart, Pulse and ECO modes. Smart Mode reads your coil resistance and suggests an appropriate wattage, which is genuinely useful as a starting point. The 0.2ohm coil tends to perform well around 50-55W and the 0.8ohm coil around 15-16W. You can adjust wattage manually using the touch-sensitive buttons beneath the TFT screen. ECO Mode reduces output to extend battery life, useful when you are away from a charger.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Vaporesso Luxe XR Max and the Luxe XR Max 2?

The Max 2 upgrades the original primarily with a larger 3200mAh battery, up 400mAh from the previous version. It also adds RGB LED strips alongside the TFT screen, touch-sensitive wattage buttons, and the updated AXON chipset with Pulse, Smart and ECO modes. The overall form factor is similar in size. The Luxe X3 has a lower maximum output and smaller battery.

Does the Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 have auto draw?

The Luxe XR Max 2 is a button-fire device rather than an auto-draw kit. You activate it with the main fire button on the front of the device. The lock switch on the base prevents accidental firing when the device is in a pocket or bag.

Which pods and coils are compatible with the Luxe XR Max 2?

The kit accepts GTX coils ranging from 0.15 to 1.2 ohm, used with the Luxe XR DTL and MTL pods included in the box. It is also compatible with Luxe X Dual Mesh pods, sold separately, which use integrated rather than replaceable coils. This gives you a solid range of resistance and vaping style options from one device.

How do I charge the Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2?

Charge via the USB-C port using the cable included in the box. The device supports 3A fast charging, so it tops up quickly relative to most integrated battery pod kits. Avoid charging from a high-output USB-C PD charger if it is not rated for this device, and never leave it charging overnight unattended.

Is the Luxe XR Max 2 pod 2ml compliant for the UK?

Yes. The refillable pod holds exactly 2ml of e-liquid, which is the maximum permitted under UK TPD regulations for refillable vape tanks. You will not find a larger-capacity version of this pod sold legally in the UK. If you are buying shortfill e-liquid for the 0.2ohm DTL pod, make sure you are adding no more than 20mg/ml nicotine concentration to your finished mix.

What e-liquid should I use with the Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2?

It depends on your coil. The 0.2ohm DTL coil needs high-VG e-liquid, such as a shortfill, at a low freebase nicotine strength. The 0.8ohm MTL coil works best with 50/50 or nic salt e-liquid, and 10mg or 20mg nic salts are the most popular pairing for ex-smokers wanting a satisfying throat hit.
