Set up guide & tips
What's in the box
The kit ships with the Centaurus E40 Max mod, a 0.3Ω E-Plus pod, a 0.6Ω E-Plus pod, and a USB-C charging cable. Check everything is present before your first charge.
Charging before first use
Plug in via USB-C and let the battery charge fully before vaping. The Roman column backlit panel glows with a purple breathing effect while charging, so you'll know it's live. The 1400mAh cell charges at up to 5V/2A, so it tops up quickly rather than sitting on the cable for hours.
Filling the pod
The E-Plus pods use a side-fill port. Pull the pod out of the device, locate the silicone fill plug, and remove it. Fill to the 2ml TPD maximum, reseat the plug firmly, and do not overfill. After filling, leave the pod to sit for at least 10 minutes before taking your first puff. This allows the e-liquid to saturate the cotton wicking material fully, which prevents dry hits and protects the coil.
Choosing the right e-liquid
- 0.6Ω E-Plus pod (MTL to RDL): Use a 50/50 or high-PG e-liquid, or a nicotine salt. This coil runs at lower wattages and suits a tighter, more restricted draw. Nic salts up to 20mg/ml work well here for a smooth, satisfying hit.
- 0.3Ω E-Plus pod (RDL): Use a high-VG sub-ohm e-liquid (70/30 VG/PG or above). Thinner 50/50 liquids will not wick fast enough at higher wattages and can cause dry hits. Stick to freebase at lower nicotine strengths, typically 3mg/ml or 6mg/ml.
Adjusting power and airflow
Power is adjusted via the buttons alongside the OLED screen, which shows wattage, battery level, and coil resistance at a glance. The stepless airflow slider sits on the side of the device. Close it down for a tighter MTL draw; open it up for a looser RDL vape. Find your preferred setting before committing to a full tank.
Activation
The Centaurus E40 Max supports both button fire (the one-touch finger fire button) and auto-draw (inhale activation), so you can use whichever feels more natural.

Frequently asked questions
What pods does the Centaurus E40 Max use?
It uses Lost Vape E-Plus pods, which are sold separately as replacement cartridges. The kit includes a 0.3Ω pod for RDL vaping with high-VG liquids and a 0.6Ω pod for MTL and RDL with 50/50 e-liquids or nic salts. UK pods are 2ml in line with TPD regulations.
What e-liquid should I use with the Centaurus E40 Max pod?
That depends on which pod you have fitted. The 0.6Ω pod works best with 50/50 e-liquids or nic salts up to 20mg/ml. The 0.3Ω pod needs a high-VG sub-ohm liquid. Using a thin e-liquid in the 0.3Ω pod at higher wattages is the most common cause of dry hits.
Is the Centaurus E40 Max good for beginners?
It is accessible for beginners who want more than a basic starter kit. The OLED screen is clear, the button layout is straightforward, and auto-draw removes the need to press a fire button at all. New vapers should start with the 0.6Ω pod and a lower wattage setting while they get used to the device.
Can I use the Centaurus E40 Max with an RBA?
Yes. The device is compatible with the Lost Vape E-Plus RBA cartridge, which is sold separately. This suits experienced vapers who build their own coils. If you are new to the device, get comfortable with the included pre-built pods first before moving to an RBA setup.
How long does the Centaurus E40 Max battery last?
The 1400mAh built-in battery is solid for an all-day session at moderate wattages. Heavy RDL vaping at or near 40W will drain it faster. When it does need a charge, the USB-C port supports 5V/2A fast charging, so you are not waiting long.
