XROS 5: Screen shows "SHORT ATOMIZER" and stops working
The screen displays "SHORT ATOMIZER" and the device stops firing. This is a built-in protection response to a detected short-circuit or abnormally low resistance at the pod connection.
Why this happens
- Dirty or contaminated connection pins between the pod and the battery section, the most common trigger for a false short-circuit reading
- A genuine short-circuit or very low resistance condition in the pod coil itself
- Physical damage to the pod caused by dropping or mishandling the device
How to fix it
- Remove the pod from the device and inspect both the pod contacts and the pins on the battery section for e-liquid residue, dust or debris.
- Clean the connection pins on the battery section and the corresponding contacts on the pod using a dry cotton bud or a piece of dry tissue. Keeping these pins clean and free from E-Liquid is essential for best performance.
- Reinsert the pod firmly and try firing again. A secure connection is needed for the device to read resistance correctly.
- If the error persists, try a different pod if you have one available. A repeated "SHORT ATOMIZER" reading with a second pod points to a device-side fault rather than a pod fault.
- If the error clears with a new pod, the original pod coil has likely developed a short-circuit and the pod should be replaced.
- If the error continues with multiple pods and clean pins, do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Contact Vaporesso support or return the device, as the manual states repairs must only be carried out by Vaporesso.
