Centaurus E40
A 40W sub-ohm pod kit with a 1400mAh built-in battery and adjustable airflow, suited to both MTL and DTL vapers who want flexible power in a compact, eye-catching device.
Set up guide & tips
What's in the box
The Centaurus E40 ships with the device, two E Plus pod cartridges (0.3Ω and 0.6Ω), a USB-C charging cable, and documentation. The two pods cover the full range from direct-to-lung freebase vaping down to a tighter nic salt MTL draw.
Filling the pod
The E Plus pods fill from the side or base via a silicone-sealed fill port. Remove the pod from the device before filling, press or slide open the fill port, and fill to the 2ml line on UK TPD-compliant stock (the pod is physically designed for 3ml but UK-sold units are filled to the 2ml maximum). Avoid overfilling and reseal the port firmly before reinserting.
Priming the coil
This is the step most people skip and then wonder why their first few puffs taste burnt. After filling, leave the pod to stand upright for at least 5 minutes before you vape. The mesh coil needs time to fully saturate. With a brand new coil, we would push that to closer to 10 minutes to be safe. Rushing this step shortens coil life significantly.
Choosing the right e-liquid
0.3Ω E Plus pod (max 40W, DTL/RDL): Use a high-VG e-liquid, 70/30 VG/PG or higher. Shortfill 50ml or 100ml bottles with a freebase nicotine shot work well here. Avoid nic salts in this pod; the output is too high and the vapour production is too dense for a comfortable salt hit.
0.6Ω E Plus pod (max 25W, RDL/MTL): Use a 50/50 e-liquid or a nic salt. This is the better pod for anyone stepping up from a basic starter kit or who prefers a cooler, more flavour-focused draw. Nic salt at 10mg or 20mg works nicely here and keeps the throat hit comfortable.
Adjusting power and airflow
Power is set via the mechanical dial on the device body. The airflow slider sits on the side, open it fully for a loose DTL draw or close it down for a tighter MTL feel. The combination of adjustable wattage and adjustable airflow means you can genuinely tune this to your preference rather than accepting a fixed vape style.
Charging
Charge via USB-C at 5V/1.4A. The device supports a 5V/2A charger for a slightly faster top-up. The 3.35-inch RGB backlit panel shows battery level by colour: red for 0-20%, white for 20-40%, blue for 40-60%, green for 60-80%, and purple for 80-100%. Do not leave the device charging unattended overnight as a general good practice with any lithium battery device.
LED blink codes
If the device behaves unexpectedly, check these signals before assuming a fault.
- Red LED flashes 5 times, output cuts off: Battery too low, charge the device. This triggers when battery voltage drops below 3.3V at rest or 2.85V under load.
- LED flashes 3 times, no output: No atomizer detected. Reseat the pod firmly until it clicks.
- White LED flashes 3 times, no output: Short circuit detected. Remove the pod, check the coil contacts, and try a different pod.
- Red LED on for 5 seconds, device shuts off: Device temperature too high. Leave it to cool before using again; it will restart once the internal board temperature drops back below 65°C.
- LED flashes 8 times, output cuts off: You have vaped continuously for more than 10 seconds, triggering the over-time protection. Release and take another draw.

What is the difference between the Centaurus E40 and the Centaurus E40 Max?
The E40 Max is a separate variant in the Centaurus E40 line, featuring leather panels and an OLED display rather than the E40's RGB backlit panel. Both share the same core specs, coil compatibility, and 40W output, but the Max leans harder into premium aesthetics.
Which e-liquid should I use in the Centaurus E40?
It depends on the pod. The 0.3Ω pod needs high-VG freebase e-liquid (70/30 or higher) for DTL vaping. The 0.6Ω pod suits 50/50 or nic salt e-liquids at up to 20mg/ml for a tighter RDL or MTL draw. Do not use nic salts in the 0.3Ω pod.
Can I use an RBA with the Centaurus E40?
Yes. The Centaurus E40 is compatible with the Lost Vape E Plus RBA cartridge, which fits in place of the standard E Plus pods. This is a separate purchase and lets you build and wick your own coil if you prefer that level of customisation.
Why does my Centaurus E40 show a pink or specific colour on the panel?
The RGB panel changes colour to indicate battery level, not a fault. Red means 0-20%, white 20-40%, blue 40-60%, green 60-80%, and purple 80-100%. "Centaurus E40 pink" in search usually refers to the panel cycling through colours during charging or to the pink colourway of the device itself.
What capacity is the Centaurus E40 pod in the UK?
UK units are TPD-compliant at 2ml. The E Plus cartridge is designed to hold 3ml but UK-sold devices are configured to the legal 2ml maximum. This is standard across the UK market for any refillable pod or tank and is not a fault.
