Drag S3
A compact, internally-powered sub-ohm pod kit running the PnP X coil platform, suited to experienced vapers who want variable-wattage performance in a pocketable build.
Set up guide & tips
What's in the box
Your Drag S3 arrives with the device, one PnP X DTL cartridge (2ml, TPD-compliant), a 0.15 ohm coil pre-installed, a spare 0.3 ohm coil, a PnP X Platform Card, a USB-C cable, and user documentation. Check all of that is present before your first charge.
Charging before first use
The 3000mAh internal battery will not be at full capacity out of the box. Charge via the USB-C port at 5V/2A before you start. The on-screen display shows battery level, so you can see when it is ready. Do not skip this step, as running a new device flat from the start is not good for battery longevity.
Priming the coil
The PnP X coils use mesh-distributed heating with thermo-stable cotton, and that cotton needs to be properly saturated before you fire the device. Dry-firing a fresh coil is the most common cause of a burnt taste.
- Remove the coil from its wrapper and locate the cotton wicking ports on the side.
- Apply two or three drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed cotton at each port.
- Insert the coil into the base of the pod cartridge until it clicks.
- Fill the pod via the side-fill port, remove the silicone plug, fill slowly, and replace the plug firmly.
- Leave the filled pod to stand for five to eight minutes before vaping. Ten minutes if you are using a thicker, high-VG liquid.
- Take three or four short, gentle draws without firing the device to pull liquid into the coil before your first proper vape.
Voopoo states each PnP X coil is rated to around 100ml of e-liquid. Coil life varies depending on wattage, VG content, and sweetener levels in your liquid.
Filling the pod
The Drag S3 uses a side-fill design with a silicone plug and a leak-proof chamber. Pull the plug clear, angle the nozzle of your bottle into the fill port, and fill slowly to avoid trapping air bubbles. Do not overfill. The 2ml capacity is the UK TPD limit, and the pod is not designed to hold more than that. Reseat the plug firmly after every fill.
Choosing the right e-liquid
The coil you use determines which e-liquid works best.
0.15 ohm coil (DTL, 40 to 60W recommended): This is a direct-to-lung coil running at sub-ohm resistance. Use a high-VG shortfill or 50/50 liquid at 0mg or 3mg freebase nicotine. Nicotine salts at 20mg are too harsh at these wattages for most vapers. Voopoo recommends 50 to 70% VG for the PnP X platform.
0.3 ohm coil (RDL/MTL, 32 to 40W recommended): This sits in restricted direct-to-lung territory. A 50/50 liquid works well here. If you want nicotine, freebase at 6mg or a nic salt at 10mg to 20mg are both reasonable options depending on your preference and how much you vape.
Keep sweetener-heavy liquids to a minimum if you want to get close to that 100ml coil life. Sweeteners caramelise on the mesh and accelerate gunking.
Navigating the device
The Drag S3 has a 0.96-inch colour TFT screen and uses capacitive touch activation on the fire button, which reads skin contact rather than physical pressure alone. The screen is touch-controlled for menu navigation. Swipe down from the home screen to access mode selection, themes, puff counter, and button lock settings. To adjust wattage, press and hold the wattage figure on the display. The device supports Smart mode, RBA mode, and Echo mode.

Frequently asked questions
What coils does the Voopoo Drag S3 use?
The Drag S3 uses Voopoo's PnP X coil platform. The kit ships with a 0.15 ohm DTL coil (pre-installed) and a 0.3 ohm RDL/MTL coil as a spare. Additional PnP X coils are available separately in 0.2 ohm, 0.45 ohm, and 0.6 ohm options, as well as integrated PnP X pod cartridges that do not require separate coil changes.
What is the Voopoo Drag S3 battery capacity, and can it be replaced?
The Drag S3 has a 3000mAh built-in battery that charges via USB-C at 5V/2A. It is not a replaceable battery. If you want the same PnP X platform with a swappable 21700 or 18650 cell, the Drag X3 is the external-battery version in the same range.
What wattage should I run the Drag S3 at?
Start lower than you think you need and work up. The 0.3 ohm coil sits comfortably in the 32 to 40W range for most vapers. The 0.15 ohm coil handles 40 to 60W. Running either coil at the top of its range shortens coil life and can make the vape uncomfortably hot. Find the wattage that suits your draw style and stay there.
Is the Voopoo Drag S3 pod kit TPD compliant?
Yes. The pod cartridge is 2ml capacity, which is the legal limit under UK TPD regulations. Voopoo also advises nicotine at no more than 20mg/ml on this platform, which aligns with TPD rules. The 5ml cartridge listed on some international retailer pages is not the version sold in the UK.
How do I fill the Drag S3 pod without leaking?
Use the side-fill port, remove the silicone plug completely, and fill slowly with the bottle nozzle seated in the port. The pod uses a leak-proof chamber design that significantly reduces the risk of flooding, but overfilling or leaving the silicone plug loose will cause problems. Once filled, replace the plug firmly and leave the pod upright for a few minutes before vaping.
Why does my Drag S3 taste burnt?
Almost always an under-primed coil. If you fire a fresh coil before the cotton is fully saturated with e-liquid, you burn the cotton fibres and the taste does not go away. Prime the coil properly before first use as described above. If you are mid-coil-life and getting a burnt taste, your liquid level may be too low, your wattage too high, or the coil is simply at end of life and needs replacing.
