First Use
The VPrime arrives with a 0.2Ω DTL pod cartridge pre-installed. Before you fire it for the first time, prime the coil properly. OXVA's own guidance is to drop e-liquid into the new cartridge and wait 4 to 5 minutes before vaping. Skipping this step on a fresh coil, particularly the 0.2Ω at higher wattage, will give you a dry, burnt hit that ruins the coil immediately.
Press the fire button five times to power the device on or off.
Filling the Pod
The VPrime uses a side-fill design. Open the fill port on the side of the cartridge, fill slowly and avoid overfilling. Once filled, OXVA recommends waiting as long as possible before vaping to let the cotton fully saturate and avoid flooding. Tipping the device on its side briefly after filling can help the liquid wick evenly into the coil.
The pod holds 2ml, which is the maximum permitted under UK TPD regulations.
Choosing the Right E-Liquid
Your coil resistance determines the right liquid. Follow these guidelines:
- 0.2Ω DTL pod - high-VG shortfill or a freebase nicotine liquid (3mg or 6mg). This coil fires at higher wattage and produces significant vapour. Nic salts at 20mg will deliver far too much nicotine per puff at this output level.
- 0.4Ω RDTL pod - high-VG shortfill or freebase works well here. Some vapers use 10mg freebase if they want a mild hit.
- 0.6Ω RDTL pod - this is a good middle ground. High-VG shortfills or 50/50 freebase at lower nicotine both work comfortably.
- 0.8Ω MTL pod - this is where nic salts make sense. A 10mg or 20mg salt in a 50/50 base suits the tighter draw and lower wattage. Do not exceed 20mg/ml.
Wattage and Smart Mode
Drop a pod in and the device will detect the coil and suggest an appropriate wattage automatically. You can override this using the side buttons if you want to fine-tune the output. The resistance range the device accepts is 0.2Ω to 0.8Ω, covering every pod in the VPrime range.
Auto-Draw Feature
The VPrime supports both button-fire and auto-draw activation. To use auto-draw, you need to close off one of the two side airflow inlets. With that inlet blocked, draw on the device and it fires without pressing the button. If both inlets are open, button activation is the primary mode. The auto-draw sensor is designed to match button-fire speed.
Charging
Charge via the Type-C port at 5V/1A. The 2600mAh battery is substantial for a pod kit, so expect reasonable time between charges during normal daily use.

What pods fit the OXVA VPrime?
The VPrime uses its own VPrime pod cartridges, available in 0.2Ω DTL, 0.4Ω RDTL, 0.6Ω RDTL, and 0.8Ω MTL options. The device accepts coils between 0.2Ω and 0.8Ω. The kit ships with a 0.2Ω pod pre-installed and a 0.6Ω pod in the box.
What is the pod capacity on the OXVA VPrime?

Does the OXVA VPrime have a 5ml pod option?
No. The VPrime pod cartridge holds 2ml, in line with UK TPD regulations for refillable tanks. You may see references to a 5ml capacity in some listings, but that does not apply to UK stock. If you need longer capacity between fills, the larger battery means you are not stopping to charge frequently, at least.
Does the OXVA VPrime support an RBA?
Yes. OXVA makes a dedicated RBA for the VPrime called the Alexa Six Prime RBA, sold separately. It sits in the same pod slot and lets you build your own coil. This is aimed at experienced users who want full control over their build. The VPrime's wattage adjustment is used manually when running the RBA.
What do the warning messages on the OXVA VPrime screen mean?
The VPrime displays plain-text alerts rather than blinking light codes. Here is what each one means:
- LOW BATTERY - charge the device via Type-C before continuing
- NO ATOMIZER - the pod is not detected, reseat it firmly
- SHORT - a short circuit has been detected, remove the pod and check the contacts
- TEMP HIGH - the device or circuit board temperature is too high, stop vaping and let it cool down
Which e-liquids work best in the OXVA VPrime?
It depends on your pod. The 0.2Ω and 0.4Ω pods suit high-VG shortfills or low-nicotine freebase for DTL vaping. The 0.8Ω MTL pod works well with 50/50 nic salts up to 20mg/ml. Using a high-nicotine salt in a DTL pod at full wattage delivers far more nicotine per puff than intended.
