Set up guide & tips

First Use and Priming Your Coil

Priming the coil properly before your first vape is the single most important step with the Ursa Epoch. Skip it and you risk a dry hit that burns the cotton and ruins the coil before you have even started.

Fill the pod first, then leave it to stand for at least 5 minutes before taking a puff. The official guidance suggests up to 10 minutes for a more thorough soak, and we would not argue with that on a brand-new coil.

Filling the Pod

  1. Remove the pod from the device by pulling it free from the magnetic connection.
  2. Locate the silicone refill plug on the side or base of the pod and open it.
  3. Insert your e-liquid bottle nozzle into the filling slot and fill steadily, avoiding the central airflow tube.
  4. Seal the plug firmly after filling, then reinsert the pod into the device.
  5. Wait at least 5 minutes before vaping.

Which E-Liquid to Use

The Ursa Epoch runs at 17W to 25W and accepts coil resistances from 0.5Ω to 2.0Ω, so your choice of liquid depends on which coil you are using.

Higher-resistance coils (1.0Ω and above): These suit a mouth-to-lung draw and work best with 50/50 or high-PG e-liquids and nicotine salts up to 20mg. The tighter draw and lower power produce a smooth, cigarette-like hit.

Lower-resistance coils (around 0.5Ω to 0.8Ω): These run at higher wattage and produce more vapour, so a higher-VG shortfill or 10mg freebase works well here. Thick, high-VG liquids are not recommended in pod kits at this size, as the smaller pod and coil can struggle to wick them fast enough, leading to dry hits.

UK TPD note: The Ursa Epoch pod has a 2.5ml capacity but is sold in the UK in a 2ml TPD-compliant configuration. All nicotine-containing e-liquid sold in the UK is capped at 20mg/ml under TPD regulations.

LED Indicator Guide

The Ursa Epoch uses a small LED to flag battery and connection status. Here is what each pattern means:

  • Red flashes 3 times: Low battery. Charge the device via USB before continuing.
  • Purple flashes 3 times, display shows 0.0, no output: Open circuit. The coil resistance is above 2Ω, or there is no coil detected. Re-seat the pod or check the coil.
  • Red flashes 8 times, no output: Short circuit detected. Remove the pod, check the coil is seated correctly, and refit.
  • Purple flashes 8 times, output cuts off: You have vaped continuously for over 10 seconds. The device cuts off automatically as a safety measure. Release the fire button and wait a moment before continuing.

Frequently asked questions

What pods and coils are compatible with the Lost Vape Ursa Epoch?

The Ursa Epoch is compatible with Ursa V2 pods and their associated coils. The device accepts resistances between 0.5Ω and 2.0Ω, so both MTL and restricted DTL coil options within the Ursa V2 range will work. Always check the coil resistance is within that range before fitting.

Is there a Lost Vape Ursa Epoch Pro?

Search data shows a lot of people looking for an Ursa Epoch Pro. As of this writing, Lost Vape has not released a confirmed Ursa Epoch Pro variant. The standard Ursa Epoch runs up to 25W with a 1000mAh battery. If a Pro version launches, we will update this page.

How do I fill the Lost Vape Ursa Epoch pod?

Remove the pod from the device, open the silicone refill plug, and fill from the side slot, keeping the nozzle away from the central airflow tube. Seal the plug, refit the pod, and wait at least 5 minutes before vaping to let the coil saturate properly.

What is the battery life like on the Ursa Epoch?

The built-in 1000mAh battery charges at 5V/1A. At moderate wattage, that is a reasonable full-day capacity for a device of this size. Heavy use at or near 25W will drain it faster. Charge via USB when the LED flashes red three times, indicating voltage has dropped below the safe threshold.

How do I get the best flavour from the Ursa Epoch?

Match your e-liquid to your coil resistance. Higher-resistance Ursa V2 coils paired with nic salts or a 50/50 liquid deliver a tight, flavourful MTL hit. Lower-resistance coils benefit from a higher-VG blend and freebase nicotine. Priming the coil fully before first use also makes a noticeable difference to flavour from the start.

How do I know when to change the coil?

The most reliable signs are a noticeably muted or off flavour, a slightly burnt taste even on a freshly filled pod, and reduced vapour production. Coil life varies depending on how heavily you vape and which e-liquids you use. Sweetened liquids in particular shorten coil life, as the sweetener caramelises on the cotton.
