Set up guide & tips
What's in the box
You get the Aegis Hero 5 device, one 2ml refillable pod, a 0.4ohm B Series Boost coil, a 0.2ohm B Series Boost coil, a USB-C cable, an info card and a user manual. The pod comes empty, so you'll need e-liquid before you start.
Fitting the coil
Push your chosen coil up into the base of the pod until it clicks firmly into place. A loose coil is the most common cause of dry hits and flooding, so make sure it seats properly before you fill.
Filling the pod
Pull the silicone stopper out on the top of the pod. Fill slowly to avoid air locks, leaving a small gap at the top, then push the stopper back down firmly. You don't need to remove the pod from the device to refill, which makes topping up on the go straightforward.
Priming before first use
New coils need a few minutes to saturate before you fire. Once filled, leave the pod to stand for five to ten minutes. This is especially important with the 0.2ohm coil, which has a denser mesh and takes slightly longer to prime fully. Skipping this step is the most common reason a new coil tastes burnt immediately.
Choosing your e-liquid
0.4ohm coil (25-30W, RDL): This coil suits 50/50 or 70/30 VG/PG e-liquids. Nic salts at 10-20mg/ml work particularly well here if you want a satisfying throat hit without cloud chasing. In the UK, 10ml bottles are the standard TPD-compliant format for pre-mixed salts and freebase liquids up to 20mg/ml.
0.2ohm coil (50-58W, DTL): At this resistance and wattage, you want a higher-VG liquid, 70/30 or above, to handle the heat and produce smooth, dense vapour. Use freebase nicotine at 3mg/ml or 6mg/ml. High-VG shortfills with a nic shot added are a cost-effective route. Nic salts are not recommended at DTL wattages.
Getting started
The Aegis Hero 5 has a Smart Mode that automatically matches output to the coil you've installed, which is a sensible starting point. You can override this and set your own wattage using the adjustment buttons. Use the A-Lock function (check your manual for the button sequence) to prevent accidental firing when the device is in your pocket or bag.

Frequently asked questions
Which pods and coils fit the Aegis Hero 5?
The Hero 5 uses its own 2ml refillable pod paired with Geekvape B Series Boost coils. The kit includes 0.2ohm and 0.4ohm options. These are the same B Series coils used across other Geekvape Hero devices, and Geekvape rates the Boost versions at up to 40ml of e-liquid per coil.
What does the feedback effect on the Aegis Hero 5 mean?
The feedback effect refers to the tactile or haptic vibration response some users notice on the Hero 5 when it fires or when you interact with the device. It is a normal function and not a fault. If vibration or feedback seems excessive or irregular, check that the coil is seated properly and the pod is locked in.
Is the Aegis Hero 5 good for mouth-to-lung vaping?
Yes, with the right setup. The three-position adjustable airflow can be closed down enough for a restricted draw, and the 0.4ohm coil at 25-30W gives a tighter, flavour-focused vape that suits MTL and RDL styles. For a full MTL experience, use a 50/50 e-liquid and a nic salt at up to 20mg/ml.
How long does the Aegis Hero 5 battery last?
Geekvape states the 2000mAh battery can last up to seven days on a single charge, though real-world use depends heavily on your wattage and how frequently you vape. At higher DTL wattages the battery drains faster. USB-C fast charging at 5V/2A brings it back to full in around 30 minutes.
How does the Aegis Hero 5 compare to the older Hero models?
The Hero 5 increases output to 50W (up from 45W on the H45), raises battery capacity by over 40% to 2000mAh, adds the A-Lock accidental-fire prevention function and introduces the B Series Boost coils with double the rated lifespan of the previous generation. The top-fill pod design and general form factor remain familiar.
