XROS 5: Device not working or not firing

You press the fire button and nothing happens, or the device powers on but refuses to produce any vapour. This covers a completely unresponsive device as well as one that appears on but will not fire.

Why this happens

  • Pod not seated correctly, so the battery cannot detect it
  • Dirty or e-liquid-coated contact pins between the pod and the battery well
  • Protective sticker still attached to the pre-installed pod on first use, blocking the connection
  • Device is switched off (five clicks of the fire button toggles power)
  • Battery is fully depleted and needs charging before it will respond
  • Coil not primed on first fill, causing a dry-hit protection response

How to fix it

  1. Check the device is switched on. Five rapid clicks of the fire button toggle the device on and off. If the screen lights up when you click five times, it was simply off.
  2. Remove the sticker if this is first use. The pre-installed pod ships with a protective sticker over the contacts. Tear it off before inserting the pod, otherwise the device cannot make a proper connection.
  3. Re-seat the pod. Pull the pod straight out, then push it firmly back in until you feel and hear a click. A half-seated pod will not fire.
  4. Clean the contact pins. Use a dry cotton bud to wipe the metal pins on the underside of the pod and inside the battery well. E-liquid residue on these pins is a common cause of a dead connection. The manual specifically calls out keeping these pins clean for best performance.
  5. Charge the battery. Connect the device to a power source using the in-box Type-C cable. The screen will show a charging animation. Wait until there is enough charge for the device to respond, then try firing again.
  6. Prime the coil before firing. If you have just filled the pod for the first time, wait at least 5 minutes before firing so the coil can absorb e-liquid. Firing a dry coil can trigger protection and produce no vapour.
  7. Check for damage or extreme conditions. If the device has been dropped, exposed to water, or stored outside the recommended 10 to 40 degrees Celsius range, internal damage may be the cause. In that case, do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Contact Vaporesso support or return it for assessment.
