XROS 5: Not charging, stops charging, or charging animation explained

The device is not charging when plugged in, the charging animation is not showing on screen, or the device stops charging before the battery is full.

Why this happens

  • Wrong or faulty cable being used, rather than the included Type-C cable
  • Dirty or obstructed charging port or pod connection pins, preventing a reliable connection
  • Over-charging protection has activated, causing the device to stop charging automatically once the battery is full

How to fix it

  1. Use the Type-C cable that came in the box. Third-party cables may not meet the required DC 9V/2A or 5V/3A spec and can prevent charging from starting at all.
  2. Check the screen when you plug in. A charging animation showing the current charge level should appear immediately. If it does, charging is working correctly.
  3. If the screen stays on the charging interface and the device has stopped charging, this is the built-in over-charging protection activating. This is normal behaviour, not a fault. Unplug the device and use it as normal.
  4. Clean the connection pins between the battery and the pod using a dry cotton bud or soft cloth. Dirty pins can interrupt the charge circuit. Do not use water or solvents.
  5. Try a different USB power source, such as a wall adapter or laptop port, to rule out a faulty adapter.
  6. If the device still does not charge after trying the above steps, do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Contact Vaporesso or the retailer for support.
