Aegis Legend 5
The Geekvape Aegis Legend 5 is a dual 18650 sub-ohm kit built for experienced DTL vapers who want up to 200W of output inside a genuinely rugged, IP68-rated chassis.
Set up guide & tips
What's in the box
Your kit arrives with the Aegis Legend 5 mod, a Zeus Z Sub Ohm Tank, two Z Series mesh coils (a 0.15Ω preinstalled and a 0.4Ω spare), a spare 2ml glass tube, a USB-C cable, spare parts, and a user manual. Two 18650 batteries are not included and must be purchased separately.
Batteries first
Fit two 18650 batteries before you do anything else. The mod is oriented, so check the polarity markings inside the battery door and seat each cell accordingly. We'd recommend a matched pair from a reputable brand for both safety and consistent output at higher wattages.
Priming your coil
The Zeus tank uses a bottom-load coil design with top-fill access. Before you fill it:
- Remove the tank from the mod and locate the coil fitted at the base.
- Drip a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed cotton wicking ports on the side of the coil and a drop or two down the central bore.
- Thread the coil back in firmly if you have removed it, or if using it factory-fitted, proceed directly to filling.
- Allow the coil to soak for at least five to ten minutes once the tank is filled before firing.
Skipping the prime is the single most common reason for a burnt first hit. Do not rush it.
Filling the tank
The Zeus tank fills from the top. Slide or rotate the top cap to reveal the fill port, insert your bottle nozzle, and fill slowly to avoid flooding the central airflow tube. The tank holds 5ml in its standard configuration. In the UK the kit ships with a 2ml TPD-compliant glass tube fitted as standard. You can switch to the 5ml glass if your retailer supplies it, but note that only the 2ml capacity is TPD compliant for sale in the UK, so the 5ml tube is intended for non-UK markets.
Which e-liquid to use
This is a sub-ohm kit running low-resistance mesh coils, so it needs high-VG e-liquid, typically 70/30 VG/PG or higher. Thin, high-PG liquids will flood the coil and may leak through the airflow.
- 0.15Ω Z XM coil (preinstalled): run between 70W and 85W. Use freebase nicotine at 3mg or 6mg, or a high-VG shortfill topped with a nic shot to a maximum of 3mg.
- 0.4Ω Z XM coil (spare): run between 50W and 60W. Same VG ratio applies; this coil gives a slightly tighter draw and works well at the lower end of its range if you prefer a less intense hit.
- TPD rules cap nicotine at 20mg/ml in the UK. At sub-ohm wattages, 3mg to 6mg freebase is the practical ceiling for comfort. Nic salts are not suited to this style of vaping.
First fire
Power the device on with five clicks of the fire button. The 1.08-inch TFT colour screen will display your current mode and wattage. The AS 4.0 chipset supports Smart, Power (Normal), Boost (Custom), ECO, and Temperature Control modes. For most vapers, Smart mode is a solid starting point, as it adjusts output to suit the fitted coil. Set your wattage within the coil's recommended range, take a slow, steady draw through the top airflow, and adjust from there.
The A-Lock feature prevents accidental firing when the device is in a pocket or bag. Familiarise yourself with how to engage and disengage it before heading out.

Frequently asked questions
What batteries does the Geekvape Aegis Legend 5 take?
The Aegis Legend 5 requires two external 18650 batteries, which are not included in the box. Use a matched pair from a reputable manufacturer and always charge them in a dedicated external charger or via the device's USB-C port. Never mix old and new cells.
What coils are compatible with the Aegis Legend 5?
The kit ships with Geekvape Z Series mesh coils and the tank accepts the wider range of Z-compatible coils. The preinstalled 0.15Ω Z XM runs at 70 to 85W; the included spare 0.4Ω Z XM runs at 50 to 60W. Geekvape's Z coil range is widely available and straightforward to find as replacements.
Why does my Aegis Legend 5 taste burnt straight away?
Almost always a priming issue. If the coil cotton is not fully saturated before you fire, you scorch it on the first pull and the burnt taste does not recover. Re-prime a new coil by dripping e-liquid onto the wicking ports, fill the tank, and wait at least five to ten minutes before vaping. Also check you are running within the coil's recommended wattage range.
Is the Aegis Legend 5 tank TPD compliant in the UK?
The tank ships with a 2ml glass tube fitted, which is the TPD-compliant capacity for sale in the UK. The kit may include or reference a 5ml tube, but UK regulations limit e-liquid tank capacity to 2ml. The 2ml glass is included in the box so you are covered for everyday UK use without any additional changes.
What modes does the Aegis Legend 5 support?
The AS 4.0 chipset powers five modes: Smart, Normal (Power), Custom (Boost), ECO, and Temperature Control. Smart mode is the most user-friendly, automatically adjusting output to suit the coil resistance. Memory mode lets you save preferred settings. All modes are navigated via the 1.08-inch TFT screen and the up and down buttons.
Can I charge the Aegis Legend 5 via USB-C?
Yes, the mod has a USB-C charging port. That said, for battery longevity and safety, many experienced users prefer to charge 18650 cells in a dedicated external charger rather than in the device. Either method works, but if you run dual batteries regularly, an external charger gives you more control over each cell's condition.
