Vaporesso Armour OCTA
Last updated
A dual 18650 box mod built for serious DTL vapers who want up to 220W output, rugged military-grade protection, and the freedom of replaceable batteries.
Set up guide & tips
This listing is the Armour OCTA mod only. No tank and no coils are included, and batteries are not in the box either. Before you get going, there are a few things worth sorting first.
Batteries
The Armour OCTA takes two 18650 cells, sold separately. Use a matched pair, meaning same brand, same model, same age, purchased and cycled together. Never mix old and new cells, and avoid mixing brands. The mod features voltage surge protection that cuts output if the difference between the two cells exceeds 0.9V, which is a useful safety net, but proper battery matching is still your first line of defence.
Slide the battery door open, insert both cells observing the polarity markings inside the tray, and click the door closed until it seats firmly.
First Power-On and Controls
Once batteries are in, the Armour OCTA powers on with three quick presses of the fire button. The same three-press action cycles through the main menu where you can select your mode (wattage, eco, temperature control for various wire types, boost, and pulse), adjust brightness, set a puff counter limit, and choose a display theme.
The physical lock slider on the side of the mod is worth using whenever the device goes in a bag or pocket. Sliding it to the locked position prevents accidental firing entirely, which matters on a 220W device. The V2.0 Overtime Protection also cuts output after a 10-second continuous press (Level 1) and powers the device off if that happens twice within two minutes (Level 2).
Pairing a Tank
The Armour OCTA uses a standard 510 connector, so it will accept most 510-compatible sub-ohm tanks. It is designed to pair with the Vaporesso iTank T, though that tank is not included with the mod alone. If you are running your own tank, check the coil resistance is within the mod's operating range and set wattage to match your coil's recommended window.
Charging
Charge via the Type-C port at DC 5V/2.5A. The port has a silicone plug to maintain the mod's weatherproofing, so keep that seated when charging is not in progress. The mod includes overheat charging protection that stops charging if the temperature exceeds 75°C, which keeps long sessions safer. External battery chargers are an alternative if you prefer to charge your 18650 cells separately, which is common practice among regular external battery users.
E-Liquid Recommendation
Because this is a mod only, liquid choice depends entirely on the tank and coils you pair with it. If you are using the GTi 0.2ohm or 0.4ohm dual mesh coils that accompany the iTank T, those are sub-ohm, high-power coils suited to direct-to-lung vaping. Use a high-VG e-liquid, 70VG or above, ideally a 50ml or 100ml shortfill. Freebase nicotine at 3mg or 6mg is the standard call at this power level. Nicotine salts are not recommended with sub-ohm, high-wattage setups.

What is the Vaporesso Armour OCTA?
The Armour OCTA is a dual 18650 box mod outputting up to 220W, built around military-grade ruggedness. It is rated IPX8 waterproof, IPX9K water jet-proof, and IP6X dustproof, with drop protection tested at 1.2 metres across 26 angles. It runs the AXON 3.0 chipset and displays on a 0.96-inch TFT screen.
Does the Vaporesso Armour OCTA kit include a tank?
Not when purchased as the mod only. The Armour OCTA is sold separately from the iTank T kit bundle. If you want the tank and coils included, look for the full kit listing. The mod alone suits vapers who already own a compatible 510 tank.
Does the Armour OCTA come with batteries?
No. Two 18650 batteries are required and must be purchased separately. Use a matched pair from the same brand, model, and purchase batch. Never mix batteries of different ages or different makes, as mismatched cells reduce safety and can trigger the mod's voltage surge protection cutoff.
How do I charge the Vaporesso Armour OCTA?
Plug in via the Type-C port using the included cable at 5V/2.5A. Replace the silicone port plug afterwards to maintain waterproofing. Many external battery users prefer a dedicated 18650 charger instead, which lets you swap a fully charged pair in rather than waiting for in-device charging to complete.
How does the Armour OCTA compare to the Armour Ultra?
The main difference is the battery system. The Armour Ultra has a 5500mAh built-in battery and charges like any USB device, topping out at 100W. The Armour OCTA uses two replaceable 18650s and reaches 220W. Both use the iTank T and GTi coils. Choose the OCTA if you want swappable batteries and higher headroom; choose the Ultra for plug-and-charge simplicity.
Is the Vaporesso Armour OCTA suitable for beginners?
It is not aimed at beginners. Managing matched external 18650 batteries, selecting wattage modes, and understanding sub-ohm coil ratings requires some existing knowledge. If you are newer to vaping, a regulated pod kit or a built-in-battery mod is a safer and simpler starting point.
