Vmate Max
A compact 30W refillable pod kit with a 1200mAh built-in battery, OLED display and adjustable airflow, suited to MTL and RDTL vapers switching from cigarettes or stepping up from a basic pod device.
Set up guide & tips
Turning the device on
Press the single firing button five times quickly to power the Vmate Max on. Five presses again turns it off. The OLED screen will light up to confirm the device is active.
Filling the pod
Pull the pod cartridge out of the device, locate the filling port on the side or underside of the pod, and remove the stopper. Fill steadily and keep the level at around two-thirds full as Voopoo recommend. Replace the stopper firmly, slot the pod back in, and wait approximately five minutes before vaping if you are using a brand-new pod. That soak time lets the coil material saturate fully and prevents a dry, burnt hit on the first draw.
You can top up an already-used pod without removing it from the device, thanks to the top-fill design.
Priming notes
If you are swapping to a fresh pod, the five-minute soak is not optional, it is the most common reason for a burnt taste early in a pod's life. If you have been vaping the same pod and just need a top-up, you can fill and vape straight away.
Which e-liquid to use
The Vmate Max ships with two pods:
- 0.7 ohm pod - tighter MTL draw, lower vapour volume. Use a 50/50 VG/PG or similar balanced ratio e-liquid. Nicotine salts at 10mg or 20mg work very well here for a smooth, satisfying throat hit.
- 0.4 ohm pod - slightly more open RDTL draw, a touch more vapour. Still best suited to a 50/50 or up to 60% VG liquid. Avoid high-VG shortfills (70% VG and above) in either pod, as the thicker liquid will not wick quickly enough at this cartridge size and coil format.
The 2ml pod capacity is the UK TPD legal limit for refillable pods. Both pods comply with that regulation, so if you are used to devices with larger tanks from outside the UK, the difference is simply more frequent top-ups rather than any performance compromise.
Power modes
Cycle through modes using the button. NOR mode auto-selects the wattage to match your pod's resistance, which is the easiest starting point. SPT mode pushes power higher to boost flavour intensity. Eco mode drops power down to preserve battery. Variable wattage mode lets you dial in the exact wattage yourself within the 5-30W range. The OLED screen shows your current mode, wattage and battery status at all times.
Airflow adjustment
A slide control on the device adjusts airflow. Close it down for a tighter, more cigarette-like draw on the 0.7 ohm pod, or open it slightly for the 0.4 ohm RDTL setup.

What pods does the Vmate Max use?
The kit includes a 0.7 ohm top-fill pod for MTL vaping and a 0.4 ohm top-fill pod for a more open RDTL draw. Both hold 2ml of e-liquid in line with UK TPD regulations. Replacement Vmate top-fill pods are available separately when the built-in coil degrades.
How do I know when the pod needs replacing on the Vmate Max?
The clearest sign is a noticeably burnt or muted flavour that does not improve after a fresh fill and a five-minute soak. Coil life varies with usage and e-liquid sweetener content, but when the taste is consistently off, swap the whole pod for a new one rather than trying to revive it.
How long does the Vmate Max battery last and how do I charge it?
The 1200mAh built-in battery should last most moderate vapers a full day. Charge via the USB-C cable included in the kit at 5V/2A. The RGB indicator on the device reflects battery status so you can see at a glance when it needs topping up.
Do I have to set the wattage manually on the Vmate Max?
No. NOR mode automatically detects your pod's resistance and picks an appropriate wattage, so you can just fill up and vape without adjusting anything. If you want more control, switch to variable wattage mode and set your preferred output anywhere between 5W and 30W yourself.
What colours does the Vmate Max come in?
TBC. Check the product listing for the current colour options available, as availability can vary by retailer and over time.
