XROS 5: Burnt taste or dry hits
Every puff tastes harsh, burnt or acrid, or the vapour feels dry and scratchy rather than smooth. This usually means the coil is not getting enough e-liquid before or during firing.
Why this happens
- Pod filled for the first time but not given enough time to prime, so the coil wick is still dry
- Insufficient e-liquid in the pod, causing the coil to fire without saturation
- First use of the device with the protective sticker still on the pre-installed pod, blocking e-liquid flow
How to fix it
- Check the e-liquid level in the pod. If it is low or empty, refill before vaping again to avoid firing a dry coil.
- To fill, snap off the mouthpiece and squeeze e-liquid through the filling hole, then reattach the mouthpiece and press it shut firmly.
- If this is the first time you have filled the pod, wait at least 5 minutes after filling before taking a puff. This gives the wick time to fully saturate with e-liquid.
- If this is the very first time using the device, check the pre-installed pod for a protective sticker and tear it off before filling, as leaving it in place can restrict e-liquid flow to the coil.
- After priming and refilling, take a few gentle puffs. If the burnt taste continues, the coil may be permanently damaged from repeated dry firing and the pod will need replacing.
