DotPod Lite: LEDs flash 5 times and the device cuts out
The LED indicator bar flashes 5 times and the device shuts off mid-use or refuses to fire. This is a built-in protection response, not a random fault.
Why this happens
- Puff duration too long: firing for more than 10 seconds triggers the overuse cut-off and causes 5 flashes
- Short circuit detected: the device has sensed an abnormal electrical condition in the pod or coil connection
- Coil resistance out of range or temperature too high: the over-temperature or out-of-range resistance protection has activated, causing 5 rapid flashes for three seconds before powering off
How to fix it
- Check your puff length first. If you held the fire button for more than 10 seconds, that is the overuse cut-off doing its job. Release, wait a few seconds, then take a shorter puff.
- Remove the pod. Pull the magnetic pod gently out of the device and inspect both the pod contacts and the device contacts for e-liquid residue, debris or visible damage.
- Allow the device to cool. If the body feels warm, set it down in an open space and let it cool fully before retrying. Do not continue using a device that feels hot to the touch.
- Reinsert the pod and test. Seat the pod firmly so the magnetic connection is secure, then try firing again with a short, controlled puff.
- Try a different pod if the flashing continues. If 5 flashes persist after cooling and reseating, the pod or coil is likely faulty. Swap in a fresh pod to confirm.
- Do not attempt to open or modify the device. If a replacement pod does not resolve the issue and the 5-flash protection keeps triggering, stop use and contact the retailer or manufacturer for support.
