Xlim 3 Ultra: LED flashes 8 times and device cuts out mid-puff
The LED flashes 8 times and the device stops firing while you are still drawing or holding the fire button. This happens mid-puff rather than at startup.
Why this happens
- Overtime protection triggered (10-second cut-off): The device has a built-in overtime protection that cuts the power if a single puff or button press exceeds 10 seconds. This is the only cause associated with 8 LED flashes.
How to fix it
- Release the fire button or stop drawing immediately. The 8 flashes are the device telling you the 10-second limit has been reached. Letting go ends the puff and allows the protection to reset.
- Wait a moment, then take a shorter puff. Once you release and pause briefly, the device resets and is ready to fire again. Keep each puff under 10 seconds to avoid triggering the cut-off.
- Check your vaping style. If you regularly hit the 10-second limit, try taking shorter, more frequent draws rather than one long continuous inhale. Most pod kit users find 3-5 second draws give the best flavour and vapour without triggering protections.
- Do not attempt to bypass or disable the protection. The overtime cut-off is a safety feature. If the device continues to cut out on puffs that feel well under 10 seconds, stop using it and contact the retailer for further guidance.
