Xlim 3 Ultra: LED flashes 5 times and device stops firing
You press the fire button and the LED flashes 5 times in quick succession, then the device stops firing. This is the built-in short circuit protection cutting in.
Why this happens
- Short circuit at the pod contacts - the most common trigger; debris, condensation or e-liquid residue on the contacts between the pod and the device can cause a false or real short circuit
- Faulty or damaged pod - an internal fault in the pod itself can register as a short circuit and trip the protection
- Coil issue within the pod - a damaged or flooded coil can present a resistance low enough to trigger the short circuit cut-off
How to fix it
- Remove the pod from the device straight away. Do not attempt to keep firing while the protection is active.
- Inspect the contacts on the base of the pod and inside the device bay. Look for e-liquid residue, dust or moisture.
- Wipe the contacts clean on both the pod base and the device bay using a dry cotton bud. Make sure everything is dry before reinserting.
- Reinsert the pod firmly and try firing again. If the LED no longer flashes 5 times, the contact issue is resolved.
- Try a different pod if the 5-flash pattern continues. If a fresh pod fires normally, the original pod is faulty and should be replaced.
- Stop using the device if the problem persists with multiple pods. Do not attempt to open, modify or repair the device internally. Contact support or the retailer for further assistance.
