Argus Matrix: Screen shows E1 and the device won't fire
The screen displays E1 and the device refuses to fire. This means the device cannot detect the cartridge, even though it appears to be seated.
Why this happens
- Dirty or e-liquid-contaminated contacts on the cartridge or inside the mod, preventing a clean electrical connection
- Condensate or e-juice inside the auto-draw sensor or mod body, triggering a false undetected reading
- The cartridge is seated in the wrong orientation, or the centre pin inside the mod is stuck and not making contact
- A faulty or incompatible cartridge or coil
How to fix it
- Remove the cartridge and inspect the gold contacts on both the cartridge base and inside the mod. Wipe them clean with a dry cotton bud or lint-free cloth, removing any e-liquid residue or condensation.
- Check the centre pin inside the mod socket. Press it gently with a cotton bud to confirm it moves up and down freely. If it is stuck down, carefully work it loose without using sharp tools or applying force that could damage the pin.
- Clean inside the auto-draw sensor and the mod body with a dry cotton bud to remove any e-juice or condensate that may be interfering with detection.
- Reinsert the cartridge, then try rotating it 180 degrees. The E1 error can appear when the cartridge is seated in the wrong orientation.
- If the error persists, try a different cartridge or coil to rule out a fault with the current one.
- If none of the above steps clear the E1 error, contact VooPoo support or the retailer, as the mod pin or sensor may need professional attention. Do not attempt to open or disassemble the device.
