Aegis Hero 5: Device is getting hot or stops firing after extended use

The device becomes noticeably hot during use and either stops firing or the red light flashes for around 10 seconds. This is the built-in overheat protection cutting in to keep you safe.

Why this happens

  • Extended continuous use raising the internal temperature above the device's safe threshold
  • Chain vaping without breaks, which prevents the device from cooling between puffs
  • Using the device in a warm environment, such as direct sunlight or a hot car, which adds to the heat build-up

How to fix it

  1. Stop firing immediately when you see the red light flash or feel excessive heat. The overheat protection has triggered and the device will not fire until it cools.
  2. Turn the device off completely rather than leaving it in standby.
  3. Set it down on a flat, cool surface away from direct sunlight or heat sources and leave it still for at least 30 minutes.
  4. After 30 minutes, power the device back on. If it fires normally and the red light no longer flashes, the issue is resolved.
  5. Going forward, take regular breaks between vaping sessions to allow the device to cool naturally. Avoid chain vaping for extended periods.
  6. If the device continues to overheat quickly even after a full cool-down period, or if it feels hot without heavy use, stop using it and contact Geekvape support or the retailer for further advice.
