Caliburn G5 KOKO: How to set up and prime a new pod correctly
You have a new pod or replacement cartridge and want to fill and prime it correctly before your first puff, avoiding a dry or burnt hit that damages the coil.
Why this happens
- Skipping the insulating film removal means the pod cannot make proper contact with the device
- Vaping immediately after filling without a soak time runs the atomising core dry, causing permanent damage
- Overfilling or leaving the filler plug open after filling can lead to leakage
How to fix it
- Pull the cartridge off the device and peel away the insulating film from the bottom of the cartridge before doing anything else. This film is fitted for transit and must be removed before first use.
- Open the filler plug or mouthpiece. Insert the tip of your e-liquid bottle into the filling slot and fill the cartridge. Do not fill above the MAX line and stop before the liquid reaches the mouthpiece itself.
- Close the filler plug or mouthpiece immediately after filling to prevent leakage.
- Push the cartridge firmly back into the main unit until it clicks into place.
- Set the device aside and let it stand for 10 minutes. This soak time allows e-liquid to saturate the atomising core fully. Vaping before this period is up can cause a dry hit that permanently damages the coil.
- After 10 minutes, take a draw to vape. If the first puff tastes slightly off, wait another minute or two and try again.
