Aegis Mini 5 75W: Tank is gurgling or spitting e-liquid into my mouth
When you fire the device or draw on the tank, you hear a wet gurgling sound and get e-liquid spitting into your mouth. This usually means liquid has flooded the coil or is sitting in the chimney where it should not be.
Why this happens
- Coil not properly primed or seated before use, leaving dry spots that flood unevenly
- Tank overfilled, pushing excess liquid into the central chimney
- Airflow left open during refilling, allowing e-liquid to flood the coil head
- Condensation or pooled liquid building up in the drip tip or chimney over time
How to fix it
- Close the airflow fully before you refill the tank. Keeping airflow open during filling lets liquid run straight into the coil and chimney, which causes flooding and spitback.
- Avoid overfilling. Stop filling before the liquid reaches the central chimney tube. Overfilling forces e-liquid into areas that should stay clear of liquid.
- Check the coil is properly primed and seated. Before you first use a new coil, add a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the coil's cotton ports and leave it to soak for several minutes. A coil that has not been primed can flood unevenly and gurgle from the first draw.
- If the tank is already gurgling, remove the drip tip and gently flick the tank downward over a tissue to clear pooled liquid from the chimney. Do not blow back through the drip tip, as this pushes liquid further into the coil.
- If the problem continues after following all steps above, the coil may be damaged or at the end of its life. Replace it with a compatible coil and re-prime before use.
