DotPod Max: Screen shows 'Chip Too Hot' and the device has stopped firing
The screen is displaying 'Chip Too Hot' and the device has cut out and will not fire. This is a built-in thermal protection kicking in because the internal temperature has reached or exceeded 75°C.
Why this happens
- The internal chip temperature has reached the cut-off threshold of 75°C, triggering the device's thermal protection
- Prolonged or heavy chain-vaping sessions generating excess heat inside the device
- Use in a hot ambient environment, such as direct sunlight or a warm vehicle, pushing the internal temperature above safe limits
- Charging in conditions outside the recommended 0°C to 40°C range, which can contribute to excess heat build-up
How to fix it
- Stop vaping immediately and do not attempt to fire the device while the warning is showing
- Remove the pod if it is warm to the touch, to help the device shed heat more quickly
- Place the device on a stable, non-flammable surface in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight
- Wait for the internal temperature to cool down fully before attempting to vape again, the screen warning should clear once the chip is within a safe temperature range
- Check your environment: the recommended ambient temperature for use is -10°C to 40°C, so move indoors or to a cooler location if you are in a hot setting
- If the device is also on charge, disconnect it from the charger immediately and allow it to cool before resuming charging
- If you notice the battery swelling, smoking or becoming extremely hot at any point, do not continue to handle it, place it on a non-flammable surface in a well-ventilated area away from people and pets, and contact customer support straight away
- If the 'Chip Too Hot' warning returns quickly after cooling and normal use, or the device feels abnormally hot during light use, stop using it and contact support rather than continuing to vape
